Role Purpose:

The Coordinator is a key member of the school team who works together to support the mission and values of the schools. The Pre Primary Coordinator is responsible for the operation and administration of the preschool-age classrooms. The Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that the grade, subject and assistant teachers are focused on fulfilling their responsibilities and that the students feel loved, cared for and comfortable at school. The coordinator is also responsible for overseeing the support systems for students in his/her section, inculcating the desired culture, safety, disciplinary expectations and is the primary custodian of a cohesive, motivated and happy team within the particular section.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Mentoring and supervising subject teachers in administrative and special duties

  • Inspiring the teachers to be the best that they can be

  • Lead by being early adopters of new ideas/processes/tools and ensuring that their team members live the EKYA culture

  • Oversee the syllabus in the assigned section on a regular basis.

  • Ensure delivery of homework schedules and submissions (homework log) 

  • Follow up on timely preparation of test and exam papers and submission to the Head of Schools

  • Check on timely completion of corrections (Homework, Classwork, Formative and Summative Assessments)

  • Timely update and maintenance of student marks and feedback records

  • Follow up on the goal-setting & mentoring program.

  • Ensure that PTM records (both scheduled and one-off) are updated and uploaded on our school management system

  • Ensure maintenance of the Student Code of Conduct records

  • To plan, organize and follow up on Field Trips

  • Ensure that student scorecards are maintained and updated in the assigned section

  • Supervise the updation of awards lists and details when required

  • A regular check of uniform and tardiness (escalated from Grade Teachers)

  • Ensure student information forms are collected and handed over to the administration office by teachers

  • Ensure timely response to parent queries by  teachers/grade teachers

  • Ensure that class bulletin boards are used effectively and changed periodically

  • Ensure teacher participation in all school events and track teacher attendance in the assigned section

  • Ensure punctuality of teachers in classes.

  • Ensure observations of each teacher happen at least once a term directly and once a term by someone else (CoE Stream Heads/ Subject Leads/ Head of School/Manager, Training)

  • Arrive at resource requirements ahead of time, get necessary approvals and indent in advance

  • The Coordinators must spend at least 10% of their time working on (either as a leader or as a team member) on school/ section level projects/ committees.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • All classes in that section are maintained clean and kept tidy 

  • All resources are utilized with care and maintained responsibly (materials, electronic gadgets, electronic items, etc)

  • Dispersal is carried out in orderly fashion at the end of the school

  • Substitution committee is kept informed of teacher absence in their subsection

  • Participation of teachers in school-approved professional development programmes

  • Participate in the selection of Subject, Grade and Assistant Grade Teachers

  • Mentoring the Subject and Grade Teachers

  • Inform the substitution committee of any teacher absences

  • Being the “go-to” person for the team in need of guidance in professional matters that are not subject related

  • Setting goals and targets for the teachers in consultation with the appropriate Head of School

  • Contribute to the evaluation of the performance of the teachers

  • Assessing skill and knowledge gaps for each teacher and recommending professional development required

  • Be involved (but not take the decision) in the Termination, promotions and compensation-related decisions of the section team.

  • Getting leave approved/sanctioned by the respective Head of Schoo

  • Teaching The Coordinator must spend 30% of their time teaching

  • Critical for them to be in touch with teaching and with the student and parent body first hand. 

   Job Summary

  1. Arranging meetings with parents and discussing the development of the children.

  3. Executing daily lesson plans with changes to capture interest in children.

  4. Use and allocate various teaching mediums to create a love for learning.

Qualifications

  • MA in Early Childhood Education or related field and five years’ experience working in preschool-age classrooms, including at least two years of supervisory/administrative experience.

  • Candidates with bachelors must have six years’ experience in an early learning program, including three years of supervisory/administrative experience.

  • IMTC Certified preferred.
