A Head of Department (HoD) of Physics is responsible for leading and managing the department to ensure it achieves excellence in all its activities. Some of their responsibilities include:
Academic leadership: Providing academic leadership and management to ensure the department contributes to the school's objectives
Developing policy: Playing a leading role in developing school policy through departmental meetings
Setting targets: Setting targets for staff and students and monitoring progress
Evaluating teaching: Evaluating the effectiveness of teaching and learning of the subject's curriculum
Assigning duties: Assigning duties to staff members as per regulatory requirements
Monitoring staff performance: Monitoring the performance of duties and responsibilities of the staff
Preparing lesson plans: Ensuring preparation of daily lesson plans as per controlled syllabus
Ordering lab equipment: Preparing and submitting office requisitions for purchase of all lab requirements
Maintaining equipment: Keeping a list of equipment's available in the lab and preventive maintenance schedule
