Job description

1. Job Overview

The Accountant will be responsible for managing the day-to-day financial and accounting activities of the school, maintaining accurate records, processing payments and receipts, handling school fee accounts, payroll and statutory compliance, and providing regular financial reports to the School Management.

2. Key Responsibilities & Duties

Accounting & Bookkeeping:

  • Maintain day-to-day accounting transactions in Tally.

  • Manage cash, bank transactions, receipts, payments and reconciliations.

  • Maintain ledgers, accounts payable and receivable.

  • Prepare trial balance, financial statements and balance sheet.

School Fees & Collections:

  • Maintain student fee records, receipts and outstanding fee statements.

  • Reconcile fee collections with bank records.

  • Prepare regular fee collection and outstanding reports.

Payments & Expenses:

  • Process school expenses and vendor payments with proper approvals.

  • Maintain records of bills, invoices, advances and outstanding payments.

  • Monitor routine school expenses and support budget tracking.

Payroll & Statutory Compliance:

  • Prepare monthly payroll and salary-related records.

  • Handle PF, ESI, TDS, Professional Tax and other applicable statutory requirements.

  • Coordinate with CA/auditors for tax filings and compliance.

Budgeting & Reporting:

  • Support preparation and monitoring of the school budget.

  • Prepare monthly financial and management reports.

  • Track income and expenditure against the approved budget.

Audit & Documentation:

  • Maintain records and documents required for internal and statutory audits.

  • Ensure proper filing and maintenance of financial records.

  • Coordinate with auditors, banks, vendors and external consultants.

3. Required Qualifications & Skills

Education:
B.Com / M.Com or equivalent qualification.

Experience:
2–5 years of relevant accounting experience. School experience will be preferred.

Technical Skills:
Good knowledge of Tally, MS Excel, accounting principles, payroll and statutory compliance.

Core Competencies:
Accuracy, attention to detail, integrity, confidentiality, good communication, follow-up skills and ability to manage work independently.

4. Job Scope

The Accountant will be responsible for maintaining the school's day-to-day financial operations, ensuring accurate accounting, timely payments and collections, statutory compliance, proper documentation and regular financial reporting to the School Management.
