Job description

1. Job Overview

INVICTA School is seeking a caring, enthusiastic and responsible Home Room Teacher to take ownership of the overall learning, well-being and day-to-day classroom experience of children from Nursery to Grade 2. The role will focus on creating a safe, nurturing and engaging environment while supporting children’s academic, social, emotional and physical development.

2. Key Responsibilities & Duties

Classroom & Child Care: Take complete ownership of the assigned class, ensuring a safe, positive, well-organised and child-friendly classroom environment. Support children with daily routines, hygiene, meals and personal care as appropriate to their age.

Teaching & Learning: Plan and conduct age-appropriate, play-based and experiential learning activities aligned with the school curriculum. Develop foundational literacy, numeracy, communication, motor skills, creativity and life skills.

Student Development: Observe and understand individual children’s needs, interests, strengths and areas for support. Encourage confidence, independence, curiosity, positive behaviour and social-emotional development.

Classroom Management: Establish positive routines and classroom practices, manage transitions effectively and create a joyful and inclusive learning environment.

Parent Communication: Maintain regular and professional communication with parents regarding the child’s learning, development, behaviour, participation and well-being. Support PTMs and parent interactions as required.

Assessment & Documentation: Maintain student portfolios, observation records, assessment data, lesson plans and other required academic documentation. Track individual student progress and communicate concerns to the Coordinator.

Activities & Events: Participate in assemblies, celebrations, projects, field experiences, performances and other school activities. Support the overall development and participation of every child.

Team Coordination: Work closely with the Foundational Stage Coordinator, subject/activity teachers and support staff to ensure consistency in the child’s learning and care.

3. Required Qualifications & Skills

Education: Bachelor’s Degree with B.Ed./D.El.Ed. or equivalent qualification. Montessori, Early Childhood Education or NTT qualification will be an advantage.

Experience: 2–5 years of relevant teaching experience in Pre-Primary/Primary education. Experience with Nursery to Grade 2 will be preferred.

Teaching Skills: Strong understanding of early childhood and foundational-stage pedagogy, play-based learning, classroom management and age-appropriate assessment.

Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Good English communication with warmth, patience, empathy and the ability to build positive relationships with young children and parents.

Core Competencies: Caring, responsible, patient, creative, organised and attentive to detail, with strong classroom management and teamwork skills.

Technical Skills: Basic working knowledge of MS Office, Google Workspace and school ERP/LMS platforms.

4. Job Scope

The Home Room Teacher will be the primary point of contact for the assigned class, responsible for the child’s day-to-day learning, care, well-being and classroom experience. The role will ensure that every child receives a safe, nurturing, joyful and developmentally appropriate learning experience, while maintaining effective communication with parents and coordination with the Foundational Stage team.
